David Siminton may be behind bars, but it seems his tentacles still reach out and destroy lives.
I recently received this message:
I know someone involved in his “cult” and am quite concerned. Do you know anyone who can unequivocally revoke his claims about the Australian government, banks and tax system? I’m no legal expert so I can’t argue with any authority.
I responded as follows:
The claims of David Siminton are self evidently absurd, they have been laughingly rejected by the multitudes of courts who have heard any number of cases against him.
In general terms, people aren’t drawn into cults because of the logic or illogic of the cult’s claims. Debating or trying to “unequivocally revoke” the beliefs of a cult to a cult member will only serve to antagonise them. The best thing you can do for a loved one trapped in a cult is to maintain contact, so that if and when they decide to leave, they have someone outside the cult to turn to for support.
Here’s a link to some more information on dealing with loved ones in a cult situation.
A final note, if your friend is being conned financially, I’m sure APRA would be keen to hear about it.
I have always found Siminton pretty bloody hilarious. I’ve enjoyed reading his delusional and warped theories about the supposed legal reality in Australia. But in all those years of stalking his bizarre website, I never supposed that anyone was actually being sucked in, it seems impossible that anyone was doing anything other than playing along with the fantasy for a laugh. It just seemed too stupid.
But the reasons people fall into cults aren’t rational.

Oh, obviously you haven’t asked anyone about David, you’ve simply read what you see in the papers. And gotten second hand info, with added twists and emotion. I will keep in contact with this web site to see what else you allege.

Siminton fans… I don’t know what strange plant breeds them.
Second hand info? If I wrote a blog post about Siminton based on what he had to say, I would be informing my readers what exactly?
Is David Siminton not an undischarged bankrupt?
Was David Siminton not responsible for the Terra Nova Cache scam?
Did the Australian Prudential Regulatory Authority not pursue successful legal action against David Siminton as a result of his heading this scam, and his refusal to heed federal court injunctions requiring him to stop calling Terra Nova Cache a bank?
Did over a hundred people not lose around six million dollars down the David Siminton guzzler?

The material on http://www.basicfraud.com is irrefutable.

Oh great, more grand and absurd legal fictions built around the selective and wishful readings of history.
As Mao Zedong said, political power grows out of the barrel of a gun.
States legitimacy is ultimately founded upon the ability of the state to command the loyalty (or supposed consent) of its citizens by having the wherewithal to enforce it’s will.
The concepts are interrelated, power and consent, but neither are affected in any significant way by the claims of bush lawyers to have found “loopholes” “ancient laws” or other such nonsense.
The concept of legitimacy is a product of the facts on the ground. The outlandish claims of the likes of David Siminton do not change the facts on the ground.

“Albert Fish”, “George”, “John”, “Michael”: amazingly similar IP addresses you have there. Astounding in fact, let me guess, all connecting from the same cell?
As a principle, I insist on “no forum for fascists” and ban commenters who insist on trying to use my blog as a platform for racist neo-nazi garbage. I think I will impose the same standard on scammers.
David Siminton, you are persona non grata on this blog. Goodbye.

Kieran,
Is your medication playing up?
I have reasons to believe that the matters on http://www.basicfraud.com are about to be published internationally. A number of journalists have spent months researching and verifying the material. Why ‘Bush lawyers”? Do you know any of the people concerned?
Fortunately when the story receives media attention your blog will still be available and those who care to view it will see what an ignorant, accusatory prick you are!
For your information, I do not know George, John or Michael and I am a Libertarian, not a Fascist. And I’m not a fan of David Siminton, although I have met him - years ago.
